Sliding head tooling experts Floyd Automatic Tooling has expanded its sales team with the recent appointment of Daniel Pepper. Daniel has joined the Baldock based specialists to strengthen the sales and technical engineering expertise that Floyd provides its customer base.

The 26 year-old technical sales engineer joined Floyd Automatic in September; a timely appointment with the company having a prominent presence at both the recent Star and Citizen Open House events.  Daniel has spent the majority of his fledgling career on the shop-floor, initially working as a manual machinist before progressing to a CNC programmer with a prominent subcontract company. This ambition was recognised by Floyd Automatic and Daniel’s presence at the Open Houses was certainly an educational insight into Floyd Automatic, its product ranges and the leading sliding head manufacturers.

Commenting upon the company’s presence at both events, Floyd Automatic Tooling’s Managing Director, Mr Richard Floyd says: “Both events were very well attended and Floyd Automatic is once again delighted to be supporting these technology partners. For us, it was another great opportunity to introduce our very latest innovations to the sliding head market and demonstrate the benefits of both our extensive product lines and unique area of tooling expertise in this niche market segment.  Some of the key technologies that really captured the imagination at the events were the Masa Microconic precision sub-spindle collet system that now supports working up to 32mm diameter, the W&F Micro quick-change and pre-settable insert holders, the Colibri Slim-Jet high speed coolant driven spindle*, and the new FLO-Tool Gold* range of bronze-alloy guide bushes for difficult materials like titanium which can ‘seize’. This bushes also come with a longer bearing length. Ideal when producing long threads for example. This new Flo-Tool Gold ca also be re-sized offering greater flexibility. (*Available from early 2019).

Adding his thoughts on both events, Daniel says: “What really hit-home for me was the expertise of the Floyd team and the vast array of solutions and product lines that are available. It was also insightful to see how well respected and reputable Floyd Automatic is in the field. From a product perspective, it was great to meet the marketplace and discuss solutions on an Open House platform. One of the more prominent products that really drew interest is a new line of torque wrenches for clamping ER collet holders and nuts. From a personal perspective, I am delighted to join the Floyd team and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
